Cambridge Fire Headquarters
Cambridge, MA
The historic Fire Station headquarters (originally built in 1934) in the heart of Cambridge, adjacent to the Harvard campus was in need of significant improvements to continue to serve the community. The fire station is going through a historic restoration and major renovations to create a modern interior that is up to current standards, while maintaining the historic brick exterior. The added sustainable elements include solar panels, high efficiency fixtures, and geothermal wells to align with the Net Zero Guidelines for the City of Cambridge (expected to achieve carbon neutrality in buildings by 2050).
Samiotes is providing civil engineering and land surveying for the renovation of the fire headquarters including the temporary facilities at the Cambridge Hospital. The scope of work includes parking layout, Emergency access and egress, grading, utilities, stormwater management, resiliency, mitigation, and handicap accessibility.
